My goal was to go to the thrift store and find the ugliest dress to do an upcycle project with. When I saw this yellow dress I was immediately drawn to the pockets but, for a moment I thought, is it possibly too ugly? I feel like I was able to transform it into one of my favorite upcycles and I can't wait to wear it this Spring.
I shortened the length, gave it a ruching with some bows in the front (I used a leftover Gucci ribbon from a recent purchase), shortened the sleeves and cuffed them, removed an unnecessary snap in the front, and took out the shoulder pads. Below is the before.
The pockets are just way too cute, I knew this dress needed a chance to become the adorable babydoll-style dress it deserved. I absolutely love it!
